Halo
Halo is a military science fiction franchise created by Bungie and now developed by Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries). Launched in 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved, the series follows the war between humanity and the alien Covenant, centering on the supersoldier Master Chief and his AI companion Cortana. Set in the 26th century, the franchise explores themes of sacrifice, duty, the ethics of creating super-soldiers, religious fanaticism, and the nature of consciousness. The Halo rings themselves are ancient Forerunner superweapons capable of destroying all sentient life. The franchise has expanded into novels, comics, animated series, a live-action Paramount+ series, and remains one of gaming's most successful properties with over $6 billion in revenue.
